**Current Esopus Creek Conditions**

Due to the lack of rain and the diminishing water supply from the Schoharie Reservoir, the Esopus Creek has reached its minimum flow level.

Tubing the Esopus Creek is still fun and available at the Town Tinker. Because the Expert course from point 1 back to Phoenicia is narrower in width proportionally, the flows are deeper, which will provide the most enjoyable ride in consideration with the present conditions. Even though the Expert course is normally restricted to older children (14 and up) at higher flows, present conditions allow our younger tubers the opportunity to tube this more exciting course.

As the character of the Esopus Creek changes radically at different water levels within our operating range, right now the low water conditions provide the prefect time for first timers to get their feet wet.

The Town Tinker's operational Esopus tubing levels are between 4 feet - 6 feet on the United States Geological Survey (USGS) gage at Coldbrook. For canoeing and kayaking, Esopus levels of 5 feet and above make for optimum paddling.

By clicking on the USGS link below, and by looking at the graph with the header "Gage height, feet" (last graph on the page), then you can find the most current level of the water on the Esopus Creek.
